Men’s Ministry Bible Study
King Solomon
Solomon was the builder of the temple in Jerusalem and the first king of Israel to trade commercial goods profitably to other nations, the author of Proverbs, Song of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes. According to the chronology in 1 Kings 11:42, Solomon was about 20 years old when he was crowned. He assumed leadership of Israel at a time of great material and spiritual prosperity. During his 40-year reign (970-930 B.C.), he expanded his kingdom until it covered about 50,000 square miles from Egypt in the south, to Syria in the north, to the borders of Mesopotamia in the east.
There is no doubt that God choose specific men and women throughout history to reveal to us throughout Scripture for a purpose. As we study the life of Solomon over the next four weeks, we will see a man who was chosen by God to be King and chosen by God to build His dwelling place. We will see a man who did many godly things throughout his lifetime and his reign as king. We are going to study how one man with so much wealth would eventually trust in his own wisdom and decide to follow his own way. Solomon was not strong enough to withstand the temptations that come with a life of luxury. He chose the way of the world instead of the way of God.
Again, God has chosen to reveal to us the life of Solomon and the choices that he made. Let us gain wisdom by gleaning from the things that Solomon did that pleased God and also learn from the mistakes that he made.

The Book Of Ephesians
Ephesians was written by Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome. Paul spent more time in Ephesus than any other community. So when he wrote this epistle, he was able to expound on his previous teachings. He was able to get into the deeper, spiritual, meatier teachings. This book starts out showing us our position with our Lord and Savior and with those who are faithful in Christ Jesus. Many of the commentators tout Ephesians to be one of the most profound letters that Paul ever wrote. “The deep things of God”. Ephesians is the fulfillment of this. It reveals the things God has prepared for those who love Him.

The Book Of Galatians
As we begin our study in a new Book, it’s important to have a little background. Paul wrote the Book of Galatians to the area of Galatia around 49 A.D., and it was probably circulated among a number of churches in the area. As we know about the early church, it began with Jewish Christians through the ministry of Peter and John and later the gospel reached the Gentiles (non-Jews) through the ministry of Paul.
At this time, many of the Jewish Christians were telling the new Gentile Christians that they had to accept Jesus Christ AND follow the Law. So Paul wrote this Book to clear up the controversy in the early church and to show us the freedom that we all have in Christ! As born again believers, we are part of the new covenant, yet we are often saddled with the baggage of the law and of sin. We aren’t spiritual people because of what we do and don’t do. We are made righteous through the blood of Jesus Christ. So as we grow in the Lord, we ought not to hang our hat on something that we’ve done or something that we chose not to do, but instead let’s look to serve God wholeheartedly without putting legalism on ourselves or others. It is my prayer that we will all realize the liberty that we have in Jesus and choose to please our Lord and not men.
