Calvary Chapel has had a long history in Escondido. For more than 30 years we have had been blessed to be a blessing by serving our community. As we move forward into 2012 and beyond we believe the Lord has led us to make a few changes. Here we hope to explain the reasoning behind some of these changes.

Why a name change?
1. CrossConnection accurately represents who we are and what we desire to do.
We are a gathering of people connected to God through Christ who are seeking to bring people into connection with God through the cross. This connection happens at our corporate worship location, but also wherever we – the cross bearers – happen to be
2. CrossConnection expresses our desire to connect with God and others apart from our physical location.
When one thinks of a “chapel” they think of a building, structure or physical location; a place where one goes to engage in spiritual/religious services. We desire to engage our world locally, nationally and globally, which requires that we see ourselves as a united people, beyond a single location.
3. CrossConnection instantly identifies our connection to the “cross,” the enduring symbol of the Christian faith.
While “Calvary” is recognized by Christians as “the Place of the Cross,” many in our day do not know what “Calvary” is or means. The cross is the most recognized Christian symbol.
4. CrossConnection enables us to make strategic connections within the larger body of Christ.
Over the years we have developed connections with ministries both in and out of the Calvary Chapel family of churches. CrossConnection allows us to more fully engage with such ministries to fulfill our mission and vision.
5. Where we’ve been… where we’re going.
What began as Christian Chapel of Escondido in the early 1980’s became Calvary Chapel of Escondido in 1988. CrossConnection helps us further our mission and vision as we move forward into all that God has for us.

At the center of our new logo is an orange equal sided cross (one of the earliest Christian symbols). The cross is intersected by a white line which gives the sense of a connection in the middle of the cross. The white line dissects the cross in such a way that each of the four separate pieces form arrows pointing toward it’s center. These four arrows are drawing the individual grey boxes in to be connected through the cross.
Orange was selected as it is an attention grabbing color which is associated with joy and is symbolic of strength and endurance; thus we have great joy in the enduring strength of what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us.
Some questions you may have…
1. Will this name change effect our affiliation with the Calvary Chapel movement of churches?
No, CrossConnection Escondido is, and will continue to be, a Calvary Chapel ministry.
2. Have other Calvary Chapel’s changed their names?
Yes, many Calvary Chapel churches do ministry under alternate names such as Horizon Christian Fellowship, Maranatha Chapel, Harvest Christian Fellowship, Refuge, Crossroads, and many others.
3. Will this name change affect our vision, mission or style of ministry?
No, we believe that the name CrossConnection Escondido better describes who we are and is in line with our vision.
4. Will the organization or incorporation of Calvary Chapel of Escondido change?
At this time Calvary Chapel of Escondido will remain the legal name of the organization. New Service Times
9:00am, 11:30am & 5:30pm
Why a time change?
1. We believe we still need three services for the growth of our church.
2. We’d like to provide new opportunities for worship with varying worship styles.
3. The new services times will provide greater opportunity for fellowship between the morning services (1 hour vs. 1/2).
